Comment: It looks to me like an attempt to privatize part of our health care system. I have checked the website of the CHA and I have noticed, as a retired Canadian citizen, that I would not be able to afford the services of such a “parallel” system. It is my opinion that we should focus our energy on fixing the public system rather than allow it to be pushed aside by private entities. We already have a partial privatization of medical labs and medicfal centres in place and they are not better or less expensive than they had been before. In some cases, they are worse, and I can support this statement with my own experiences and observations. By privatization, we are further weakening the public health care system, which makes the fixing more difficult. In the past, the whole society contributed to the treatment of the most vulnerable who often were not able to pay for their surgeries and other procedures. This is the model that we need to keep, if we really care about our sick and elderly.
