Comment 2: I would argue the topic of protection of the civilians, as not playing any role in the occupation. Firstly, they repeatedly elect the occupying power’s governments. Secondly, the Israeli civilian settlers are armed and often attack Palestinian residents of the areas they want to steal or have just stolen. Thirdly, the occupying power’s military repeatedly targets Palestinian civilians, including hospitals, schools, and those who are less than 18 years old. As you can see, this is not a simple legal issue.
