Combatting anti-Palestinian racism: Check out our new program! / Lutter contre le racisme anti-palestinien : Découvrez notre nouveau programme!

From CJPEM (Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East):

While anti-Palestinian racism has always been a problem, the last six months have highlighted the ugliness and breadth of the problem in Canada.  We’ve all heard stories of Palestinians or their allies facing repercussions at work for their Palestinian solidarity, having their stories ignored, and their intentions misrepresented.

For this reason, last month, the CJPME Foundation launched its new “Anti-Racism Program” to focus on combatting anti-Palestinian racism across Canadian society!

The Anti-Racism Program has already made great strides forward!  Check out the Website, and peruse some of the resources already created by Jamila and others:

  • Incident Reports.  We have already published 11 full “incident reports” of 2-3 pages each, documenting cases of APR since Oct. 7.  Rather than trying to publish an “incident report” on every instance of APR, these reports provide “examples” of the type of adversity faced by Palestinians and their allies in Canada.
  • Statements.  We have already published four timely “statements” responding to developments relating to APR.  Some statements critique particularly offensive actions by school boards, politicians, etc., while other statements applaud positive actions by other players.
  • Resources page.  On this page, we describe and link to “self-reporting” tools for Canadians; APR aids, descriptions and definitions; and other resources.
  • Networking.  In less than two months, we’ve already made many useful connections with other players addressing the problem of APR in Canada.
