Comment: In Ontario, it started to come to the surface after 1991. In 1991, Soviet Union collapsed and the ideological competition was over. Almost immediately, predatory capitalism began its offensive. As Michael Parenti put it, “capitalism with human face became caspitalism in your face”. Here in Canada, restructuring of our economy was immediately implemented, followed by offshoring of some major manufacturing, technology, and services to so called “cheap countries”, where labour was less expensive and relaxed environmental laws did not require costly clean-up technologies. Jobs were no longer important, profit became the major goal of business and (in some cases) government activities. We were told that this was necessary because we became too expensive and were not competitive enough compared to workers in countries where cost of living was a tiny fraction of our own survival cost.
Then, after 1995. the dumbing down education reforms began. At the beginning, they were gentle and still pretended to improve academic excellence. By now, their scope exceeded the wildest imagination compared to the old curriculums and teaching methodology. One may argue that new technologies, namely television, computers, video games, and internet, have made the old teaching style less attractive but this situation was not compensated by new strategies. Instead, schools began to indoctrinate children in social areas instead of focusing on academic knowledge, understanding od science, and critical thinking skills. Demoralization and sexualization became part of this process, accompanied by other “woke” elements.
I’ve just brain stormed our current social, economic and political trends, and came up with the following list of concepts:
- Destruction of social cohesion (religion, family, nation, patriotism, culture, moral values and moral integrity, as well as historical traditions;
- Dividing people, isolating people and pitching people against each other (mixing of cultures as well as some measures, psych ops, and strategies introduced during the “pandemic” and the lockdowns (social distancing, masking, fear campaigns, coersion, repressions, etc.);
- Destruction of individualism and identity (confusion, cognitive disonanse, psych ops, unscientific gender theories, confused sexual orientation presented as “normal”, etc.;
- Destruction of constitutional freedoms and human rights under the pretext of “protection” and “greater good”;
- Destruction and misrepresentation of science and scientific research;
- Dumbing down education and entertainment;
- Fake news and lying propaganda;
- Destruction of health care;
- Destruction of economy;
- Austerity and pauperization od society;
- Corruption (enything goes for profit, career, and ideological indoctrination);
- Using force and legal repressions against opposition and peaceful protesters;
- Enslavement measures (invigilation, control, AI and transhumanism);
- Depopulation measures.
These are just several of the main “new concepts” in our social and cultural reality. On the scale of society, these measures have a realistic potential for:
- Physical degradation;
- Intellectual degradation;
- Cultural and social degradation;
- Economic degradation;
- Ideological and political degradation;
- Degradation of personal integrity and (often) honesty.
Our govenments readily went with this scheme, even though they had other options available at their disposal. I wonder why? I cannot comprehend why our representatives, elected and paid by us, would choose to follow such a deliberately destructive path instead of protecting citizens and consumers of this once great country. Go figure… (My opinion.)
