My comments:
Comment 1: Ukraine has never been an exporter of natural gas. In 2015 – (the latest year with complete data), Ukraine produced only half of its consumption of natural gas, it imported the rest. It exported zero.
Ukrainian crude oil exports and production are rather small, compared to other oil producing countries. In 2020, Ukraine exported $24.6M in Crude Petroleum, making it the 83rd largest exporter of Crude Petroleum in the world. At the same year, Crude Petroleum was the 199th most exported product in Ukraine. In Dec 2019, Ukraine’s crude oil production was reported at 34,260 Barrel/Day.”
Annual $24.6M / 34,260 Barrel/Day is a very small crude oil export / production that has no great bearing on the world’s economy.
We should be honest and we should admit that Ukrainian soldiers are fighting to defend the the main Ukrainian oil and gas corridor (The Dniepr – Doneck Oil and Gas Basin). Notably, Shell is developing the Yuzovsky Shale Gas Block located just NW of Doneck, an area fiercely defended by Ukrainians supported by western “mercenaries”.
The “Shell” Transport and Trading Company, a U.K.-registered company, has a 40% interest in the group, and the remaining 60% is owned by the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company, a Netherlands company. Collectively, the group is involved in oil and gas exploration, production, refining, transportation, and marketing.
Comment 2: “Article 5 – like protection?” This is exactly what was happening between 2014 and 2022 and what has led to the Russia’s military intervention. The push westward of NATO bases and arms, the integration of Ukraine into NATO’s command, military equipment and training. Practically, it is the same as Ukraine’s membership in NATO and it means NATO troops and bases on Russian borders. If Putin agreed to this nonsense, Russia must be losing the war. Article 5 applies only to states – members of NATO (not Ukraine) and only to states that are being attacked, (not states that attack Russia). Using the phrase “article 5 – like protection” bypasses these requirements in achieving the same end goal – NATO presence on Russia’s borders.
Comment 3: The War in Ukraine – Unpopular Facts and Questions . (Yes Rumble, I have already posted this comment before in response to a similar interview that was already posted before. So what?! If the propaganda is repeated many times, it has to be countered many times. Otherwise Joseph Goebbels wins.)
