Comment: I am including this information for political rather than religious reasons. During the communist post-war era and especially during the martial law outlawing the “Solidarity” movement (1981 – 83), an unprecedented increase in popularity of the Catholic Church and Catholic religion was clearly evident in Poland. This shows that in times of distress, danger, and repression, the social and individual need for spiritual stability, fulfilment, and cohesion rises significantly. Could this be the major mistake that the “elites” are making today in their technocratic calculations and decisions? Could this be the beginning of their undoing? I certainly hope so …
