A few comments: Yes, industries in China produce more pollution than the same industries in the US (due to less restrictive environmental laws) but our investors cut their cost and max up their profits by moving them to China – and this is what counts, nothing else. The rest of the arguments, including the “climate change” debate, seems to be a decoration, a smoke screen designed to fool us. Also, it never stops to amaze me how blatantly the supporters of offshoring talk about “saving the planet” by moving industries to China, India, etc. As if air and water pollution could somehow be contained within geographic national borders, which we know is not true. Pollution spreads with winds and ocean currents and we cannot stop it. It eventually comes back to us. In the meantime, China uses our investments, our markets, and our technologies to become an economic and military superpower that is now threatening our standard of living and our future. But the real culprits are our own profit-driven investors who had offshored our real economy and opened our markets to cheap products from “cheaper” countries (because we “were not competitive enough”. Remember that it all started with “restructuring”.)
