I am dedicating this post to my former colleagues and co-conspirators in the original “Solidarity” movement, (Poland, early 1980s). Some of you served later as representatives of the Polish government. People like you brought Poland to the verge of hysteria and unprecedented Russophobia. With your help, NATO has effectively provoked Russia to initiate the “Special Military Operation” in Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of people died as a result of this provocation and many more will die, if the war expands to Europe. Their blood is and will be on your hands. We argued about it and this was how our “friendship” ended. Did you really believe that Russia would allow Ukraine to become a member of NATO and to establish military bases 450 kilometers (3 to 4.5 minutes of modern hypersonic missile flight time) from Moscow? Were you incompetent? Or, did you serve some foreign interests?

“Today Europe Is a Rabid Dog.” Those were among the most controversial remarks made by former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter during a panel discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

  Comment: I actually suspect that the exact opposite is happening. That the desired outcome, (the economic crisis), was the intended reason for this war, rather than the unintended result. It increasingly looks like the war is there to justify the economic crisis that did not have to happen. Just like 9/11 was there to justify the oil wars and the Patriot Act. The rest is a script to make it happen. This is why there is no off-ramp, no serious negotiations, and no attempts to end this crisis. Otherwise, the true rulers would already have Netanyahu and Trump reprimanded and corrected.

Comment: I want to correct the somewhat inaccurate assumptions regarding Article 5 of NATO Treaty. It requires that a NATO member is attacked first, and then NATO may retaliate. Ukraine is not a member of NATO so Latvia cannot claim that it is defending an attacked member of NATO. Latvia is a member of NATO but it can be argued that by allowing Ukrainian armed forces to use its territory in order to attack Russia, Latvia becomes the original aggressor and Russia is defending itself by retaliating. In both cases, NATO Article 5 does not apply.
