Comment: “THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO PAY FOR ANYTHING ANYMORE” – a dangerous philosophy that is also visible in other trends – younger generations don’t want to pay for health care and pensions of their parents and grandparents, the corporations don’t want to pay national taxes, so they go “international”, f*ck international law and grab as much as we can for ourselves – after all people are born with hands oriented to themselves, not away from themselves. So, Russia grabs Ukraine; Israel grabs Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran; China grabs Taiwan and South China Sea; and the US grabs Panama, Venezuela, Greenland, and possibly Canada. And all of this is somehow justified because it is in our respective “best interests”, right?

Comment: I am not sure that I agree with you, Dan, or that I entirely agree with you. Like with every system on record, theoretically, I see some good things in their description of this order. But just as with the Bible, New Testament, communism, and other visions or systems functioning in our world, many of them turned out to be utopias. Why? Because we, as humanity, are not ready for an ideal system that is based on honesty, fairness, and integrity. Because, sooner or later, there will emerge a group of elites that infiltrate and kidnap the system and use it for their own benefit. This will create a downward spiral of corruption that will end the theory and initiate a much different practice. It has always been like that. We are just as guilty as THEY are.

A few comments: Yes, industries in China produce more pollution than the same industries in the US (due to less restrictive environmental laws) but our investors cut their cost and max up their profits by moving them to China – and this is what counts, nothing else. The rest of the arguments, including the “climate change” debate, seems to be a decoration, a smoke screen designed to fool us. Also, it never stops to amaze me how blatantly the supporters of offshoring talk about “saving the planet” by moving industries to China, India, etc. As if air and water pollution could somehow be contained within geographic national borders, which we know is not true. Pollution spreads with winds and ocean currents and we cannot stop it. It eventually comes back to us. In the meantime, China uses our investments, our markets, and our technologies to become an economic and military superpower that is now threatening our standard of living and our future. But the real culprits are our own profit-driven investors who had offshored our real economy and opened our markets to cheap products from “cheaper” countries (because we “were not competitive enough”. Remember that it all started with “restructuring”.)

Comment: Carney, a former Governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013, a former Governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020, a co-chair of the World Bank‘s private sector investment lab, a vice-chair at Brookfield Asset Management, a subsidiary of Brookfield Corporation and the United Nations Secretary-General‘s Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance, as well as an “agenda contributor” to the World Economic Forum, makes China’s position as the new world factory stronger. I am catiously optimistic but… the same global elites’ agenda calls for a destruction of western economies – a consequence of offshoring our real economy eastward. I am not sure what this handshake really means for Canada.
