Invitation

Please help protect the Sanctuary Park, an important and inseparable part of the Dundas Valley fragile ecosystem.

Please let the deer continue feeding in the Sanctuary! They have done so for years. With the current numbers and shrinking resources, there are very few, if any, alternatives left to them. Please help them survive. Their fate and their future entirely depend on your choices and decisions. They depend on you and you cannot avoid this responsibility.

Dear Mr. Propedo,

Yesterday, we visited your office and asked for an opportunity to meet with you in person. The matter concerns the newly constructed outdoor ice rink located in the Sanctuary Park in Dundas. We were told that an appointment with you would be arranged and that the meeting should take place sometime next week.

We feel that it will be helpful to submit our written presentation to you prior to the meeting, so that during the meeting we can save time and concentrate on solutions rather than on the causes of the problem in question.

Attached to this email, please find our presentation to you, dated January 21, 2011 – (PDF format), as well as three pictures included in this presentation in their full size and resolution.

We are forwarding copies of this email to Sue Gilpin, Superintendent for Environmental Services with the City of Hamilton and to Shari Faulkenham, Ecologist with the Hamilton Conservation Authority.

Sue Gilpin was initially discussing this matter with us and was very helpful in pointing us to the right authorities. We am hereby asking for her support and endorsement of our presentation in her capacity as a Superintendent for Environmental Services with the City of Hamilton.

It is our understanding that the Sanctuary Park officially remains under the City of Hamilton administration. However, factually, it is also an integral and functional part of the entire ecosystem of the Dundas Valley Conservation Area. Therefore, we are hereby asking Shari Faulkenham for her support and endorsement of our presentation in her capacity as an Ecologist with the Hamilton Conservation Authority.

At a later date, copies of the presentation will also be delivered to the local media.

We are looking forward to meeting with you soon and to a speedy resolution of the issues involved.

Respectfully yours,
Name, Telephone Number, Email address
