Robert Pape: Finally, Trump’s War on Canada Explained

Comment: This is not only costing us jobs. With manufacturing and major services offshored, the government’s tax base is shrinking, too, so we have budget cuts in education, health care, and social programs that we once had. Next question: Why do governments support the unprecedented price gouging, especially on necessities? Because that directly increases sales taxes, money that goes to government coffers. So, we lose the consumer protection and we invest more in privatization and private-public partnerships. It’s all connected. Unless this ends, we will not recover economically. It will only get worse.
