CALGARY, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) – A prominent rental housing provider in the Canadian province of Alberta has told all tenants and prospective tenants that they must get COVID jabs if they want full access to his buildings.  

“Vaccination of everyone in our community is the only way we are going to get through this pandemic and back to a sense of normalcy,” said Riaz Mamdani, founder and CEO of Strategic Group, in an October 28 press release.

Comment: If allowed to go ahead, this will affect hundreds of thousands of Canadians who will be forced to get the jab or will lose their residence. Many people, especially older tenants with long seniority, will not be able to move to another building. As “new tenants” their rent would increase substantially, compared to what they are paying under their current Tenancy Agreement. People will not be able to afford this. Meanwhile, Landlords will be tempted to use the “pandemic” as an excuse to get rid of these tenants and replace them with “new tenants”, who will pay much higher rent.

Regular annual rent increases are limited to the inflation index percentage for the year but for “new tenants” and new Tenancy Agreements sky is the limit. For example, in average rental building in my city of Hamilton, older tenants, who moved in 15 years ago, pay all inclusive $1,250 per month for a two-bedroom apartment. New tenants are charged minimum of $1,650 and up, plus hydro, while the maintenance of most buildings is declining. This is not only unacceptable, it is impossible to manage, especially if it happens in winter.

What we see here is a “salami tactic”. Our freedom and livelihood is taken away from us in thin slices, piece by piece, in slow motion, spread over time. Each slice is not worth rising hell and general protests, but if you stay idle and then look back, you see how much territory you had lost.
