We Have a Problem, Somebody Is Lying

I don’t watch TV. I also don’t listen to the radio, except, when I am driving. I was driving earlier today and heard the usual culprits reporting that Russians in Ukraine are shooting and bombing women and children who are trying to leave surrounded by Russian army cities, while Ukrainian men are staying behind to fight. Consequently, I checked a few Russian sources and they wrote that the opposite was actually true. According to those sources, Russians meeting with the Ukrainian delegation in Belarus negotiated the establishment of corridors for refugees, while Ukrainians were not letting the civilians leave the cities, killing those who were trying to escape.

Ukraine update

It appears that Russian original plan to surround Eastern Ukraine and divide the country along the Dnieper River has been halted. Positions in Dniepro and Zaporizhzhia were lost. In the South, the Russian army is advancing from Crimea eastward, towards the city of Mariupol and the Donetsk – Luhansk Region and westward, towards Nikolaiv and Odessa, most likely trying to go all the way towards the border with Moldova and Romania. If successful, this will cut Ukraine off of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. It will also open a land connection between Crimea and Russia, through Donetsk-Luhansk territory.

The second major front originating from Belarus in the North and from Russia in the North-East, advances towards the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv. Positions in the East, near the cities of Kharkiv and Kup’yansk are strategic locations along major highways and supply routes from Russia. The Donetsk-Luhansk enclave did not expand much since the war began, although efforts were visible to press westward in order to complete the land corridor connecting Russia with Crimea.

Talks are under way between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in or near the town of Naroulia (Belarus), about 35 km from the border with Ukraine. French news agency reports that Ukraine requested an immediate accession to NATO. We are also hearing that Finland and Sweden are considering joining NATO. On the other side of the divide, president Putin has ordered Russian nuclear forces on high alert. Situation is becoming more dangerous. However, reports from both sides are full of psych-ops (normal part of every war), therefore it is difficult to find a reliable source of information that one could trust.

Where did our tax money go?

Justin has sent your money and lethal military equipment to Ukraine, while:

A. It was known that Russians would invade soon;

B. It was known that NATO would not send troops to Ukraine to fight against the Russians;

C. It was known (or should have been known) that the Ukrainian army would be defeated or would surrender to the Russians;

D. It was known that the Russians would demilitarize Ukraine, disarm the Ukrainian army and paramilitary forces, and destroy or confiscate their weapons;

E. It was known that, after Russia’s victory in Ukraine, it would be impossible to trace the allegedly donated money and equipment.

Since the prime minister was so curious about our bank accounts that he engaged state apparatus and banks to investigate and freeze them, we now expect and demand that the same curiosity be applied and the same institutions be ordered to investigate where did this money and military equipment, allegedly donated to Ukraine, go? The prime minister, his cabinet and his generals were fully aware of the facts listed above. Therefore, their bank accounts and financial dealings should be frozen and investigated, first. The potential for a serious crime is there.

I do not support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine but the problem in Ukraine had been created by the US and its allies in and after 2014. Applying sanctions and saying that Ukraine is on its own, that we are not committing our troops to defend it is not going to stop the invasion. Is this a script, a deal between the US and Russia? Is Ukraine the price Putin demanded in exchange for remaining neutral in the coming US war against China?

Russia’s concerns about the security of its borders in the face of NATO’s creeping eastward expansion were identical to the US concerns about Russian military installations in Cuba during the Cuban Crisis of 1962. They were ignored, although they could have been resolved by creating a neutral Ukraine as a buffer zone between the EU and Russia. Apparently, this was not the goal of the US.

Finally, just what difference is there between the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the based on a pack of lies 2003 US invasion and destruction of Iraq? It’s time for the politicians to stop lying and manipulating public opinion. We are not stupid.

Update on situation in Ukraine

Yellow: Donetsk – Lugansk Region
Blue: Western Ukraine and Moldova

According to Russian source:

  • Yellow pins – locations of advancing Russian military as of Feb 24
  • Red pins: (Kharkov, Kiev and Odessa) – Strong Ukrainian resistance, fighting to continue tomorrow (Feb 25)

It looks like, at this stage, Russians are trying to cut out and secure Eastern Ukraine (East of the Dnieper River) with additional presence of Russian forces in the area of Kiev, Nikolaev and Odessa. It may, however, be a deception map, I don’t have any means to verify this information independently.
